finally, the interviews are back. this time, only with filmers and photog's. the first of many to come..i give you, darwin lam.

NR: what's your name, age, and where are you from and currently living.
DL: darwin lam, age 20, born monterey park, california and currently in pawtucket, rhode island.

NR: whats up darwin?
DL: chillin, brainstorming a blog with my boy.

NR: what are you brain storming?
DL: we are brainstorming a rad eye candy photo blog with plenty of birds

NR: how is it to be the first to be featured for lens life?
DL: i'm hyped! i don't do many interviews altogether so it's cool to have the spotlight on me for a change.

NR: your site says its under construction, what do you have planned for it?
DL: well it's always going to be under construction with the way i work. there will always be more work added to each series. i've got a couple cool things planned for the new year but that will be under wraps until then. oh and i totally hate the layout as it is - expect a full new one soon also!

NR: who are some of your favorite people to shoot with?
DL: all my homies whom i skate with every time; 401 KREW!

NR: do you have a favorite photo you've taken that you could show me?
DL: i dont have a specific favorite. they are all equally rad and only get when you look at them again a few years later, they only get better.

NR: what kind of camera do you have?
DL: shit man, every time that question arises, the answer changes each time. i love experimenting with gear so i usually have a new camera each month. i'd say my two favorite cameras are my nikon 35ti and my hasselblad for those serious shots. i'm looking to buy a mamiya 7 within a week or two.

NR: you used to be a filmer a couple years back, what ever happend to that?
DL: i got tired of filming , doing endless lines, editing and shit. i would film more often then skate.
There’s also a large abundance of filmers in the city compared to photographers so im staying with the minority. photography is much simpler with images – the workflow is much faster also.
I began to appreciate the aesthetics of photographs and ease of being able to bring one with you everywhere to document what life has to offer.

NR: what are some of your inspirations?
DL: my biggest inspiration is pretty much seeing/witnessing/watching , stephen shore and william eggleston.

NR: shout outs?
DL: my family including 401 krew, everyone who has helped me, nick rix + animal lyke, nikon, carl ziess, anyone else i forgot to mention. my biggest inspiration is seeing my homies progress.
photographic inspiration comes from the works of stephen shore and william eggleston to name a few.
